Textual Analysis - Zombieland

Whilst watching 'Zombieland' my role was to analyse the editing and sound.

Timings of 'Zombieland'

00:00:00 to 00:00:14 - the film starts with the first shot being a canted angle of an american flag and a blurred background, the camera is slowly moving out and then it rotates to show that the car is upside down.
00:00:15 to 00:00:40 - we see the camera is moving and panning around a lot so it seems like a Point of view shot (P.O.V) we then see a zombie and it is chasing the character until it catches up to him and eats him.
00:00:41 to 00:00:53 - we zoom out to show a shot of the world but it is broken and it looks like lava is overflowing on the land. It zooms in on to a football pitch.
00:00:54 to 00:01:12 - we see a fat man being chased by a zombie and the first rule 'Rule 1: CARDIO' is shown on screen.
- Three more of the narrators rules appear, accompanied with examples of why he follows them and what happens if you don't follow them. This may help make the audience feel more involved in the narrator's life and more personal.
-After the fourth rule 'Seatbelts' the opening titles appear accompanied with music from 'Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls'

Editing: Titles

-We See the Columbia Pictures Logo along with Relativity Media and Pariah motion graphics at the start. These are all the production companies as Columbia Pictures Co-produced with Relativity Media and Pariah.
-The opening titles are all animated and added in post-production but seem to be interactive in the film world by moving or smashing in relation to what we have just seen on screen.

Editing: Sound

Within the opening title the song by 'Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls'  is playing over the top and we don't hear any sound effects until the end title 'Zombieland' where we can hear the sound effect of glass being smashed as the bat is swung at the car windshield.
